Wessex CTC is a large surgical centre covering a population of approximately 2.8 million in South East England, and is a tertiary centre for intervention, heart failure, EP, cardiac imaging, paediatric cardiology, and adult congenital heart disease. There is one Interventional Fellowship post lasting 12 months, which normally starts in January. Fellows will work with all 6 Interventional Cardiologists and can expect to perform approximately 200-250 cases as first operator per year with exposure to PPCI, IVUS, pressure wire and rotational atherectomy. The Fellow is exposed to complex coronary work including primary angioplasty, LM PCI, CTO, bypass graft PCI, bifurcation lesions and heavy calcification. In addition there is chance to gain experience in mitral valvuloplasty. There is an active TAVI programme using the Edwards Sapien valve system. There are opportunities to participate in research projects. The Fellow will have an on-call commitment as part of the general Cardiology SpR rota.
