The IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital is a scientific-university structure of international importance and highly specialized for various important diseases, inaugurated in 1971 and recognized in 1972 as a “Scientific Research and Treatment Institute” (IRCCS).
Other related structures are the San Raffaele Turro and the Cardinal Schuster and San Donato Milanese polyclinics, for a total of 1,318 beds .
In 2016, approximately 34,000 surgeries were performed, 45,580 hospitalizations, over 950,000 outpatient servicesand 67,770 accesses to the Emergency Department. The San Raffaele is a High Specialty Emergency Center (EAS).
As part of the research , since 2001 the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital is recognized by the Ministry of Health as a Scientific Hospitalization and Treatment Institute for the specialty of Molecular Medicine . In 2017, 1,416 articles were published on the most important international scientific journals
The arrhythmia department
34 beds dedicated uniquely to the cure and treatment of arrhythmias and cardiomyopathies – channelopathies (ARVD, BRUGADA, LONG QT)
The department is the referring center for ventricular arrhythmias for the Italian territory.
The electrophysiology Lab
- 2 Labs dedicated to EP
- 1 Lab dedicated to pacing
- 1 Fellow room with multiple navigation systems to perform off-line analysis of the data acquired
- Latest versions of Rhythmia, NavX Precision system, Carto V6 version available.
- Different lines of research programs on HD catheters, EGMs analysis, Ventricular tachycardia in LVAD, clinical management of patients in the VT unit.
- Almost every day there will be a VT ablation procedure planned in one of the two labs. VT are performed with every sort of approach needed for the best outcome: Transapical VT, during ECMO, Elective or urgent VT ablation.
The fellow will be involved in the everyday procedure in the two EP labs. The candidate will be taught how to perform epicardial puncture and will learn which strategy is the best strategy in the different settings of VT catheter ablation. The fellow, if he/she is interested, will be also involved in AF/AT ablation procedure.
The fellow will be involved in active research programs on EGMs analysis, mapping catheter, different strategies to map VT. Expected duties: since this is mainly a research fellowship we wish the fellow to produce at least 2 manuscripts (as first name) at the end of this experience.
It is highly desirable that candidates will already hold a PhD qualification. The candidate should have had more than 2 years previous experience in the field of EP.
This research post has a minimum period of 1 year and a maximum period of 2 years. If the Italian language is spoken the fellow could also have access to the lab, playing an active role as first / second operator.
